Things I Love:
- Brian announced what he would like to get me for Christmas: ANOTHER KITTY. You can imagine my excitement. It is such that I'm beyond even being about to use exclamation points and I have to revert back to using plain ol' periods. Also, this will be great for Fritz, who we think is getting pretty lonely, especially at night--we don't let him into the bedroom and he's taken to howling at all hours of the night.
- SHOPPING FOR KITTIES ZOMGZ CAN WE HAVE THEM ALL
- How affectionate Fritz has been lately. As we speak he's sitting in the chair with me, purring away.
- Brian, who despite claiming to have no idea how to get gifts for people has come up with an untoppable gift the second year in a row.
- Threadless, and online shopping in general. In the last week I have: ordered a Threadless shirt, ordered something from Woot (a WootOff, to be precise), pre-ordered a video game from Amazon, and ordered yet another Threadless shirt. The first one's already come in:
Things I Loathe:
- The PetSmart employee who I suppose didn't want to risk getting off even a few minutes late, so she lied to us and told us they don't do adoptions after 8pm. (They close at 9--we got there right at 8:30.) I called another PetSmart to confirm this isn't a company policy. We were going up to look again at a kitty we'd played with and loved last night (AFTER 8).
- My decreasing ability to control my RED IMPOSSIBLE ANGER! (That phrase is only going to be funny to me because I am a loser who has inside jokes with herself. I'm aggravated and will cheer myself up however I please, damn it.)
- Procrastination. Sigh. I cannot get myself to stick to a reading/study schedule and as a result, have something like 300 pages of (textbook) reading to do in a week before two tests next Tuesday.
I'm in a great mood, and thus I bring you Things on Tuesday: The All Love Edition.
Things I Love:
- Knowing that if I find Fritz's giant plush ladybug stuffed in a corner somewhere, I can put it out in the middle of the floor and when he finds it, it will be like a whole new discovery to him. This includes war cries/meows, adorably vicious attacking of the giant plush ladybug, and apparently dragging its carcass off somewhere.
- I kicked some major ass on my first test as a psychology major.
- Coffee and vanilla lattes.
- My professor gave an extra credit assignment to those of us who stayed for the second half of class--eat that, people who left when he announced that we'd be watching a video when we returned from the 10-minute break.
- Today I wandered into Belk to find a skirt/outfit I fell in love with in May on clearance and in my size. I got a three piece outfit plus shoes that would've totaled $211.24 for $43.80. THANK YOU, BELK. The fact that this is clearly a summer outfit might be a problem if not for the fact that...
- ...I live in Alabama where summer clothes can easily be worn into October. BOO-YA.
-
- Thunderstorms!
- Celebrating the first day of fall with my manfriend by getting some O'Charley's potato soup.
I actually have things today, and I know if I wait till tomorrow I'll either forget them or forget to blog entirely. SO DEAL WITH IT. But out of respect for TonT, I'll switch the format up a bit for TofM.
Loathe: Ordering what was clearly supposed to be an HP-brand battery from what looked like a reputable seller... only to receive a knock-off (RECGARGEABLE BATTERY, as it was labeled). The seller's customer service tried to convince me (in terrible English) that the battery comes from a "manufactory" authorized by HP and that because the battery only works in HP laptops, HP did not have the "manufactory" put the logo on it. Yes. That explains why my original battery has a giant HP logo.
Love: Getting hassle-free refunds and being able to leave bitchy negative feedback, completely guilt-free.
Loathe: That people leaving seller feedback do not seem to understand they are reviewing the seller, not the product. I NEED ACCURATE INFO, PEOPLE.
Love: ...Being able to leave bitchy negative feedback, completely guilt-free?
Loathe: Even after a year of being out of school (in which time one would assume I'd have done some growing up), I still have the same habit of procrastination and now have a massive amount of reading to catch up on.
Love: MY CLASSES OMGZ. I am loving this psychology business. My Tuesday night class is 2-and-a-half hours long, and I actually feel a little sad when it's over.
Loathe: How hard Facebook is working to be Twitter. Also, seeing MAFIA WARS! and FARMVILLE! application notifications filling my news feed.
Love: ...Being able to tag people/things in Facebook status updates (you got me, FB). Also, the "Graffiti" application, which is old as Facebook dirt but which I am just now using.
One small complaint not big enough to be a loathe is that I miss having music majors around me in classes. The other day before class the professor's phone rang, and his ringtone was the third movement to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. I looked around excitedly, but no one noticed, cared, or knew what the ringtone was. It was one of those odd small moments that feels overpoweringly dramatic to the person in it. I console myself by hoping that when I get into the more upper-level classes I'll find other psychology-nerds with whom I can joke about ... whatever psychology nerds joke about, I don't know yet.
Things I Loathe:
- Waking up with a headache! Seriously, how does that happen unless you go to bed with one? This one was conjured out of nowhere.
- Spending an hour and fifteen minutes at the doctor's office for literally about 3 minutes of face time with the doctor.
- Obsessive tendencies.
- The outrageous expense of name-brand cereals. And the fact that a knock-off for MultiGrain Cheerios, possibly the tastiest Cheerios ever (after, of course, Team Cheerios. which were THE BEST. And come to think of it, I think MultiGrain Cheerios is the same thing only without Frosted Cheerios.)
- How long I am capable of prattling on about Cheerios. And how I become so distracted when talking about cheerios, that I forgot to finish my initial thought about Cheerios--which was that a knock-off for MultiGrain Cheerios doesn't exist.
Things I Love:
- Brian is consistently nice to me. And brings me medicine. And makes me food. <3
- Mario Kart Wii! I keep taking a few weeks off this game and when I return to it, I become obsessed.
- Reading. And more specifically: the freedom to read whatever the hell I want. I don't know if it's "chick lit" and I don't particularly care, but I bought The Time-Traveler's Wife and started it today.
- STORMS! I have been longing for some rainy days and it seems they're upon us here in Alabama. Mmmm, thunder. I should probably not be on the computer.
- College, apparently. 3 weeks from today I'll be starting classes again--not as a full time student, though. I'm embarking on a semester of experimentally pursuing a second bachelor's in Psychology. I'm too lazy to go into the details of why I'm doing this here, but I'm sure a future post is forthcoming.
- This video, which I have watched/listened to over and over again today:
Things I Loathe:
- My. Back. Hurts. I've had some crazy pain in my lower back since yesterday. Blarghalargha.
- Not having had much interest in writing or playing music lately. But I think this may be changing!
- People spreading pathetic messages of small-mindedness and discrimination to their followers. (Wow, that was a serious one, no?)
- The idea that makin' babies is the purpose of life. (Nothing against babies here.)
Things I Love:
- Pizza! And pizza parties! And working someplace where pizza parties happen!
- Coffee!
- Jason Cooper has taken to Things on Tuesday! With complete disregard for the "Tuesday" part.
- Gilmore Girls through Season 4 and sometimes 5!
- Learning to use Garage Band! Which will hopefully lead to my eventually learning to use Logic, the fancypants music program I've owned for months but have been too intimidated to install and learn.
- The Beatles!
Haven't done one in ages! I realize the day's only just started, but if I don't do one now I won't remember later!
Things I Loathe:
- Being so cranky.
- Bad dreams, likely resulting from crankiness.
- Hatred and ignorance. (Well that's kinda a big one, no?)
- My lack of familiarity with carpetless floors, which have now nearly killed me twice in a two week period. Sheesh.
- Unpacking. Can't... find... motivation...
- Coffee. Coffee, coffee, coffee.
- The song "Movies" by Alien Ant Farm, a recent rediscovery. If all my CDs weren't still in boxes, I'd find this one and have to take it to work today.
- Storms! I've fallen asleep to rain, thunder, and lightning twice in a row now, it's been great.
- That it's been chilly enough at night/in the new place to warrant wearing the still-new PJs I got for Christmas. So warm! So green! So polka-dot-alicious!
- THE NEW APARTMENT.
Haven't done one of these in ages. Eet ees time!
Things I Loathe:
- Being sick. Big fat boo-face.
- The fact that I can't stop putting off important things!
- Related to being sick: I haven't been able to play my Wii Fit yet! Boo.
- Also related to being sick: I am congested as all get-out. I keep making that goose-honk sniffing sound.
- No choir tonight! Which means I can lay back and rest some more, which I probably need to do. (Edit: Whoops, this shoulda been a "love" not "loathe.")
- When bunnies kick poop on me.
Color-Coded Love&Loathe: Losing five pounds due to sickness.
Things I Love:
- When bunnies stop kicking poop on me and focus on being adorable instead.
- SNOW!
- SPRITE!
- ZAPOPAN! (a local Mexican restaurant)
- MY WII!
- SLEEP. Sweet mercy, I have slept so much in the past 3 days.
- My manfriend will bring me things at work. Like Sprite in a Glass Bottle! Mmmm.
- Heather is alive!
- Thanks to my purchase of ridiculously tall shoes, I did not have to get my bridesmaid dress altered for length! I did, however, have to get it altered for tiny boobies. Schwoops.
- I'm finally feeling better after eating something substantial for the first time in days last night. Whew.
Things I Loathe:
- No more blogging from grrrace? Woman, you best change your mind!!!! :O
- Giada de Laurentiis! Always a grrrr.
- The way the morning went... sheesh.
- The wounds still all over my hand courtesy of Erin's overly rambunctious (but still impossibly adorable) kitten/cat, George.
- Today is my last day of work until January 7th!
- Today is also the library's Festivus celebration! Pictures likely to come, though you'll see 'em on Facebook first.
- ChristmasChristmasChristmasChristmasChristmasChristmas
- Brian and I got our tree up! It's quite pretty... pictures of that soon, too.
Things I Loathe:
- Being so lazy/tired! (That's always on there... yet I do nothing about it, heh.)
- How unfun I must be lately for someone who has to spend all his time with me.
- Being recommended by my composition teacher for a Finale job that could make up for the money I've spent on Christmas business. It'll be quite time consuming, but the ol' savings account needs a boost.
- Christmas shopping! Holy crap. I can't stop. I love this time of year. Oh, hey:
- Christmas! And the Christmas season!
- Helping people find their lost pets! Today some coworkers and I were at the local cafe eating when I noticed a girl asking to post a flier ("flier"? really? could've sworn it was "flyer," but what do I know) about a lost dog. Since we'd yesterday received a campus-wide e-mail about a found dog matching the description, we stopped her and had her come check the e-mail out. As it turns out, it was her dog! Good squishy feelings abounded.
Thing I Love:
- Baking cookies!
- OBNOXIOUSLY STICKY DOUGH
