Another three hour layover, another period of gratefulness to Vista for supplying me with free Internet to pass the time, but this time no giddy, impatient excitement to get where I'm going. Joie is reluctantly returning to the real world again.
Looking like quite the technology buff, I've got my iPod next to me and I'm listening to a little Ben Folds (when am I not?). These lyrics seem especially poignant to me given the mood I'm in, so I feel like sharing.
Ben Folds - "Still"
I must give the impression that I have the answers for everything
You were so disappointed to see me unravel so easily
It's only change; only everything I know
Even the things that seem still are still changing
La da, la da, la da da da da da...
Mother misses her baby, but I only wanted to be me
She changed address and haircuts and boyfriends and lightbulbs, it's easy
But it's only change; only everything I know
Even the things that seem still are still changing
La da, la da, la da da da da da...
I stay focused on details, it keeps me from feeling the big things
But watch the microscope long enough; things that seem still are still changing
La da, la da, la da da da da da...
At last Spring Break has arrived, and the first part of my journey westward is over. Since I have a three-hour layover in Dallas, I decided to bust out the laptop, since in movies you always see hip kids enjoying the Interwebz in big fancy airports. I turned on wireless, connected to the available network--and was disappointed to be directed to a T-Mobile website requesting I log in to my account or else pay for Internet by the minute. I almost gave up, but then, a ray of hope: a little advertisement promising benefits to Windows Vista users! Apparently T-Mobile is running some special allowing Vista users to utilize the "T-Mobile Hot Spot" Wi-Fi for free until April 30.
Delighted? YES, I AM. Thank you, Vista!
I've already taken some pictures I enjoy (on my phone, since I was an idiot and forgot that I actually had my real camera with me), so I'll have to post those soon now, thanks to my impatience and my affinity for using my phone for e-mail. Dallas is quickly becoming my favorite airport (not that I've been to that many)... it's so shiny and full of life. Of course, it probably won't be my favorite airport in May, when I have an hour or less to navigate my way from one flight to another, but still.
I just wanna know... what's going on in that toilet to cause it to be labeled "Severe Weather Area"?!
