I decided to take a break from reading to make myself some deliciousness (chicken and mashed potatoes!--out of a bag and a box respectively, but who cares, it's still cookin'). While waiting for the oven to preheat, I decided to diddle around on the intarwebz. Something made me think of this nugget from my youth:

As I've mentioned before, I've always been a gigantic nerd when it comes to learning about animals, and I'm destined to be the Cat Lady Supreme. My mom had this book (this edition and everything), and I happened to love it. It's a handbook by a cat for a cat on how to deal with humans--and it's hilarious. My memory is fuzzy, but I do remember the last resort advice for how to get your way: "Sometimes you must sit at your human's feet, paws tucked under, and make a smell." I'm pretty sure "make a smell" is the funniest, most appropriate way to say "pass gas." Ever.

Sadly, this book appears to be out of print now, but Amazon seems to have a number of used copies for dirt cheap. I'm gonna have to dig through my mom's books and see if I can find this one.

Chicken...in a bag? Is that like, "raw chicken in a Ziploc" or something less appetizing? We've actually discovered mashed taters-in-a-bag, the brand is Idahoan and you basically dump the bag ("100% real Idaho potatoes!") with like two cups boiling water and wa-LAH, delicious taters. Mmm. Now I'm hungry.

Oh and it hardly needs to be said, but Harry Potter for the win. 20 days until book 7!

I discovered Idahoan while backpacking. It's a handy and quick meal while in the great outdoors and surprisingly tasty, plus, if you take it out of the packaging and put it in your own container, it's very compact. It's not quite the real thing, but I have been known to eat some at home when money is tight and I'm short on time.

Hah --- much like the licks in a tootsie-pop, how many cats does it take to make a person Crazy Cat Lady eligible?
