Oh. Em. Gee.: Aitch. Pee.
...Seriously: How do you spell out the letter "H"? I didn't feel that titling this post "OMGHP" would adequately describe my overwhelming excitement.
ANYWAY.
I realize I'm a week behind all the other fans, but I'm glad I took the time to reread the first six books--all the necessary details were still fresh in my mind when I finally cracked open Deathly Hallows yesterday evening. And I'm eternally grateful for the fact that I managed to go a whole week without anyone spoiling the ending for me, especially considering that I work in a library. That was facilitated by my not working at all from Saturday until Thursday, but still; I was very afraid some group of people would burst in talking about the ending. At which point, I would've killed them.
Oh, and did I mention that HP #7 was frakking amazing and I peed my pants twenty times?!
Okay, I didn't pee my pants. But I would say I had tears going at least four or five times throughout the book. I could not be more satisfied with it, and that's all I say in case anyone else hasn't finished it.
I have a week's worth of Internet business to catch up on (including Vox), but already the feeling is starting to creep over me: how will I spend my time, now that I'm not reading/thinking about/anticipating Harry Potter?!

Which was your favorite? So far my favorite was Azkaban.
My favorite up until this point has solidly remained Prisoner of Azkaban--not to say the others are not as good, but that one gripped me throughout and moved me the most in the end. But now--and it might be too soon to say this, I need to reread it in a more calm state--I'm thinking Deathly Hallows is my favorite. They're neck and neck, at the moment.
Anyway...I won't post any spoilers here....but I've ranted and raved about DH in my Vox and LJ more than I probably should have.
I absolutely LOVED it. Definitely my favorite book of the series. I was crying pretty much the entire time, especially the last like....half. Pretty much after the Malfoy Manor chapter, I was just gone. My heart was in my throat the entire time, I was excited and terrified and overjoyed and everything in between. I have never been so emotional while reading a book, it was fantastic.
I also love how the last like, third of the book is the climax of the book (series?). Pretty much chapter 26 on is the bread and butter of an absolutely amazing story.
But...shit. What do we do now that it's over?
And how awesome are Ron and Hermione?
Steve and I are in agreement over our favorites. I'll elaborate as to why HBP is still tops for me rather than DH. (I'm sure you're just dying to know...)
Anyway, I can't wait to see the movies for HBP and DH now...
YAY Joie!!!
Nicely done -- I won't spoil here -- but will echo everyone that was really pleased wiht the book and the job that JKR did in finishing off the series. Good for her!
It's gonna be a long time until HBP comes out in film next November. I wonder how many I will re-read in that time....
