"Only in dreams..."
Did I bust out some Weezer lyrics? Why yes, I did.
I'm going to (attempt to) completely copy Steve Betz and place a poll all up in this blog. Let's see:
.
I ask this because frankly, my answer is almost every night--for better or worse. In general, I think it's pretty awesome to dream so frequently (and I generally remember them, often in detail). Unfortunately, I've lately had what can only be described as boring and tedious dreams. You read a lot, and apparently you start to dream about... reading. At least, I think that's what the EXCESSIVELY LENGTHY dream I just woke up from was about (also, Steve Betz, I believe you were in it somehow). From what I can remember/understand, I and other people were just... reading, and stories were sort of acting themselves out... which should've been exciting, but instead dragged on forever. I could literally feel my brain saying, "Dammit, please wake up and save me from this tedium." When I finally did, it rewarded me with an upgrade: the headache I'd gone to bed with was erupting into a migraine! Excellent.
Side note: I'm going to invent a padded bottle with an easy-open top for migraine pills. When my head's about to implode, the last thing I really want is to struggle with a bottle while it rattles away at a level ten times louder than it normally should be.
So, do you dream? Do you like your dreams, are you bored by them, are they usually frightening? I want answers, people.

weird!
sorry you got a migraine, though. that blows.
also, that idea for that migraine pills bottles is awesome. you should patent that right NOW!
you know you're a voxaholic when you're dreaming about your neighbors! although, i could think of worse people to dream about than the mighty steve betz. hehe.
okay. i'm getting all rambly over here. heh. but one last thing. i used to have the most horrific, scary vivid dreams. you know the ones... where you're waking up because you feel like you can't breathe or something because it's all so terrifying? and i don't get as many of those since my pregnancy. weird, right?
But yeah, I'm an epic dreamer. I also have too many nightmares, and still have night terrors (I don't remember the dream or even having one, but I wake up screaming). Makes for fun sleepovers.
I dream almost every night it seems -- and if I wake up quickly (rather than groggy), I can usually pin them down before I forget them. Also, I'm going to hope from now on the dreams of yours that i'm in are action-adventure dreams, or at least ones where we're eating and drinking a lot!! :D
I tend to have really intense and emotional dreams though that will bother me for the entire rest of the day, or even days after. The dream I had last night - I won't go into too gory of details - but it was essentially a dream where I found a person who I instantly had an extremely strong connection with, something that I think most of us are searching for on some level (if we haven't already found it). The dream was quite intense and very realistic, so I was extremely disappointed when I woke up, and it's been bothering me all day. That sort of thing usually happens every month or so, I'll have a really intense, realistic dream that I won't be able to get entirely out of my mind for a couple days. I've had tons of dreams where I'll, say, fall deeply in love with someone, only to wake up and find that not only did none of that happen, the person doesn't even exist! Broken hearts of the dream world variety aren't fun, even if they're not exactly real.
Then there are those random and strange dreams that you remember very vividly for a very long time. I still can clearly remember a dream from sometime when I was in middle school that was a strange mixture of the Simpsons, Indiana Jones and James Bond. *shrugs*
Anyway I kinda went on a ramblefest there. In short, I dream a lot, and I enjoy it (usually).
And I agree with your statement about being a Voxaholic, lol! Steve has popped into my dreams from time to time (as he's also the only Voxer I didn't already know that I've met in person, I'm not completely surprised), as have a few others. It's interesting, isn't it? Dreaming about people when you don't even know their mannerisms, what their voice sounds like, etc. Your brain just has to make it up, I suppose, haha.
So what about during pregnancy? I imagine with the hormones and you know... the other tiny consciousness inside your body, you must have some interesting dreams during pregnancy...
What kind of music dreams do you have? I had a terrible one a few nights back... apparently I had decided to have another piano recital. And it was the night of, and everyone I knew was there... except I hadn't finished learning my music! One piece was not even learned or memorized, one was very weakly memorized, and none of them were playable, much less performable. It was seriously terrifying, I felt so sick when I woke up.
And like you, I nap when I take short naps... that's actually when I tend to have the most interesting ones. I think I've actually read that that's when you're most inclined to dream, since you're not in such a deep sleep the way you are sleeping overnight. Which I think is why I've started dreaming more since Brian moved--he calls me every night, which usually wakes me up, so my sleep kinda gets divided in half. Which is probably not especially healthy and might explain why I'm always tired, eh?
And you've been in other dreams, although I don't remember any of them anymore of course... but trust me, they must've been more exciting than you reading. (Seriously, that's what you were doing in my dream. ...Reading. As was I. And everyone else. *sigh*)
And I've had dreams identical to the kinds of ones you're describing. I absolutely hate those, because it seriously just hurts when you wake up. I've also had dreams where some issue between myself and a significant other or friend has been resolved, and when I wake up it's still not... and those are not fun. (Or I dream about an issue that doesn't exist between me and someone else, and I wake up and can't help but actually be mad at them... lol.) Usually for me those post-dream feelings fade away after an hour or so, but yeah... I sometimes have ones that just fuck me up for the rest of the day. I hate that, it's so stupid, and you just can't escape it.
And here it is, one of my random dreams I've hung onto since childhood that I know you'll appreciate. I actually don't remember what led up to this in the dream, but... my dream ended at my grandma's then-current house, which was dark. And I knew Bowser was in there, and I had gotten out of my family's car to go in and face him. (And I do remember that the whole dream was pretty Super Mario themed.) So I'm on the front step, and I turn to look... and my brother and family are still in the car planning; I'm all alone! I turn and take a running jump off the front step away from the house, from Bowser, then freeze in midair and a caption appears at the bottom of my dream "screen" that reads:
"TO BE CONTINUED..."
Best. Dream. Ever. Or at least, the most ridiculously stupid.
(I've also had other game-inspired dreams... one night after playing FFVII, that part where you follow the blood trail... I had horrific dreams.) Wow, this comment was long, sorry!
oh, man. during pregnancy, my dreams were the most colorful, vivid, crazy, scary dreams ever. it was like the craziest dreams you've ever had multiplied by at least 20. hehe... it was just NUTS...
Dude, when Brian and I were on a chess fest, I seriously saw chess moves everywhere. And if I play Tetris for very long, I'll see ways to make lines in the real world for days after. It's bizarre.
